Mark Tompsett will make his Paralympic debut at the Paris Paralympics after an impressive start to 2024 which includes winning the Men’s S14 100m Backstroke European gold in Madiera on his international debut with the British team.
Preceding his maiden European title, Tompsett secured multi-classification bronze at both the 2024 World Para Swimming Series leg in Aberdeen and at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships in London to confirm his Paralympic nomination.
Born in Chorley, Lancashire, he was first encouraged to swim as a life skill by his parents, and quickly progressed to joining his first club, Chorley Marlins, and now trains under the coaching of Ric Howard at Bolton Metro Swimming Club.
Tompsett’s interest away from the pool include travel, theme parks (especially rollercoasters) and drama – and has performed in a number of school musicals.
