- The USA, Canada and Japan traditionally had the strongest syncho athletes at the Olympic Games but Russia has dominated the recent Olympic Games winning all synchro events between 2000 and 2012.
- At the London 2012 Olympic Games, Great Britain had a squad of 9 synchronised swimmers with Olivia Federici and Jenna Randall competing in both the Duet and Team Event. GB finished in a respectable 6th place in the Team event as Russia took gold.
