The 2019 Great North Swim includes a 5km Elite race taking place on 8th June
The Great North Swim is non-ticketed and welcome families, friends and spectators alike.

Entries for the Great North Swim Elite race must be made by contacting British Swimming via email - GNSElite@swimming.org, providing the following information:
- Your name
- Your club
- Your date of birth
- Your home nation registration number
Before making your entry please ensure you read the entry criteria here.
The Great North Swim Elite Race on the 8th June will be held following the FINA wetsuit rule BL 8.4 and BL 8.5:
- Wetsuits will be mandatory in water temperatures from 16.0 degrees C to 17.9 degrees
- Wetsuits will be optional in water temperatures from 18.0 degrees C to 19.9 degrees C
- Wetsuits will not be allowed in water temperatures above 20.0 Degrees C
The Great North Swim (Lake Windermere) is the qualifier for the 2019 European Junior Championships. You can read the selection policy here.
In addtion, consideration for selection for the 5km race at the 2019 World Championships (click here for the selection policy) will be made based on results from the Elite race at the Great North Swim.
