A volunteer is someone who carries out a task for the benefit of others and does so unpaid. Event volunteers are paid expenses that reimburse costs incurred whilst volunteering.
The policies vary between the Home Nations, but typically include food (up to a daily allowance) and travel. You will be sent event specific information once you sign up for a role.
A number of people first volunteer as they are participants or have a connection to the sport but there are also volunteers who have no previous connections with British Swimming or the Home Nations. Some roles such as recording and officiating do require some specific technical knowledge, but we also rely on many people with lots of other skills to fulfil other volunteering roles such as selling merchandise and helping on poolside with the general running of the event.
We aim to ensure that people giving up their time to benefit the sport have a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.
