Katie Clark and Olivia Federici progressed through to tomorrow’s European Aquatics Championship Duet Free Final continuing a successful start to 2016 after they secured Britain an Olympic quota place in February.
Clark and Federici completed their snake-inspired routine to score a total of 79.7333, which ranks them ninth going into the final tomorrow afternoon.
Katie Clark said “We’ve recently made a lot of changes to our routine, since we qualified the Olympic quota place for Britain. It’s a lot harder and more technical so it was the first time swimming that routine at competition.
“We’re happy but we’ve got a look of work to do ahead of the final”
The 2012 Olympians showed strength and style on day two of the European Championships and enjoyed opportunity to perform in front of the home crowd in London.
“We’ve competed together for many years in the team events but this year we’ve come together in the duet and it’s been great,” added Clark.
“We get on really well, we’re work well in the water and we’re also very well matched. It helps us to push each other and we’re just super excited to be here”
The pair will line up against the likes of reigning World Champions Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina of Russia and the duets of Ukraine and France.
An excited Federici said, “Let’s see what we can bring to the pool in the final.”
