Registration for exclusive access to tickets for the LEN European Aquatics Championships 2016 is now available following the launch of the event’s dedicated website.
The biggest event to be held at the London Aquatics Centre at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park since the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, members of the public can gain first access to priority tickets via www.euroaquatics2016.london.
The LEN European Aquatics Championships 2016 will see the continent’s best swimmers, divers and synchronised swimmers competing for honours from 9 – 22 May, just a few months out from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The event is expected to see over 900 competitors travelling to London for their last chance to see where their rivals lie ahead of Rio 2016 with four-time European and two-time Commonwealth champion from 2014 Adam Peaty excited by the prospect of competing in front of a home crowd as the ticket process begins via www.euroaquatics2016.london.
"Competing in the European Championships in Berlin last summer was an amazing experience for me, and I'm really looking forward to defending my titles at our home Europeans in London next year,” said Peaty, who set a new 100m breaststroke world record of 57.92 seconds on the way to the British title at the London Aquatics Centre last week.
“I'm sure it will be a fantastic event with some great racing and standout performances across the board. It's going to be an incredibly exciting and competitive championships, and I know the support from our home crowd will be a huge boost for everyone in the British team."
Over 4,000 Masters swimmers will also converge on London for the LEN European Masters Championships which will see them vying for continental honours. Dates for the Masters event will be released in due course.
The LEN European Aquatics Championships will form part of the #EveryRoadtoRio campaign, which aims to bring 30 World and European level events to the UK to maximise Great Britain’s chances of medal success at Rio 2016.
LEN European Aquatics Championships 2016 Chief Executive Tom Chambers is also excited that this next step of the planning has launched and revealed the rest of the competition is on track.
“We are really pleased to officially launch the website as we reach the next stage in preparations for a great event in May 2016,” Chambers said.
“With the dates for the Elite Championships now confirmed we hope as many people as possible will register to keep up to date with further information about the event and in particular news about tickets later in the year.
“Plans are going very well and we will be busy during the British Swimming Championships, observing so we can ensure a great event for the athletes. In addition we are looking forward to the FINA Diving World Series in May which will give us further experience in staging world-class events in the London Aquatics Centre.”
