The team scored two points more than in the prelims to finish with 76.1333 points, their best score of the competition.

Earlier in the competition Genevieve Randall finished 13th in the Solo Free prelim and 14th overall.

The 16-year old, who was the youngest competitor by two years, said: “It’s been a really good experience especially as it was my first senior international competition as a soloist.

"I was pleased with my Free Solo as it was a lot more expressive and I really enjoyed performing to the crowd.”

Randall also combined with Cowie to compete in the Duet Free where the pair finished 14th.

Cowie said: “Unfortunately we didn’t get to the Duet final but we’ve only been training together for a few months now and we are still really pleased with both of our swims.”
