Aquatics athletes targeting future success in the pool and off the diving board could benefit from support through Everyone Active's Sporting Champions scheme - with applications now open.
The programme - launched in 2016 and supported by Olympic Men's 200m Butterfly medallist Steve Parry - serves to provide funding and support for talented sportspeople across the UK.
As well as offering full access to Everyone Active's nationwide leisure facilities, athletes who are selected for Sporting Champions backing could also receive up to £5,000 in financial support to help pay for equipment, training, travel and competition costs as they aim for success at the highest levels.
So far, the scheme has helped more than 1,000 individuals to achieve their sporting potential, with artistic swimmer Kate Shortman among those to have benefited from 'silver athlete' membership.
Colin Jackson, Everyone Active Sporting Champions ambassador, said: "What we do with Sporting Champions is offer support to athletes at all levels, from grassroots right the way up.
"It was launched in 2016 with a mission of providing funding and support for talented athletes across the country. The scheme itself is currently supporting 300 athletes, which is incredible because we've doubled the number from last year, which was 150.
"What we've also done is recognise the real need to alleviate the financial pressures associated with becoming a professional athlete - and we've pledged to invest £1m to support 500 athletes in the run-up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games."
Applications are open until February 28th. To find out more and to apply, click HERE.
