GB Olympians Association call for volunteer ambassadors

30 May 2020

The GB Olympians Association are looking for British Olympians from across the aquatic sport disciplines to take on GBOA ambassador roles and help communicate with other Brits who have competed at summer and winter Games.

The GBOA is a mainly networking body to which every person to have taken part in an Olympic Games for Team GB is automatically enrolled.

There are around 3,000 members, ranging from some who competed in Games as far back as London 1948, right through to those who took part in 2018's Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Examples of member activities include regular reunions. Two years ago, a 50-year anniversary celebration of the Mexico 1968 team was held, while there is also an annual day out at Hyde Park, where members from across all sports come together to participate in the Olympians' race, as part of London Marathon's Westminster Mile series.

Now, the GBOA committee is seeking a representative from each summer and winter Olympic sport - including swimming, diving, artistic swimming and water polo - to become an ambassador, helping spread messages from the committee to all British Olympians, past and present, within their own sport, while also providing a central point of contact for Olympians within that sport.

Volunteers need no particular qualifications other than being an Olympian and having good access to email.
