Aquatics GB is pleased to confirm the appointment of Euan Dale as our new Performance Pathway Lead - Swimming.
Dale - who is currently the Director of Swimming at Millfield - was part of the Olympic coaching staff at the Tokyo 2020 Games, when Britain's swimmers secured a best-ever medal haul in the pool, with his current role featuring work with athletes and coaches in a programme that guided Matt Richards and James Guy to more Olympic gold last summer in that historic Men’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay title defence.
An Olympic swimmer himself at the 2008 Games in Beijing, Dale's wealth of coaching experience has seen him identify and nurture talent in the sport - a responsibility he will now take into implementing a world-class performance pathway across Aquatics GB’s pool and marathon swimming programmes, ensuring the effective transition of the next generation of talent on a trajectory towards achieving senior international success. He will begin the role in April.
Speaking on his appointment, Euan said: "I am thrilled to join Aquatics GB as the Performance Pathway Lead for Swimming. The progress made in our pathway programmes to date has set a strong foundation, and I am excited about driving its future success.
"With swimming's stellar profile, I see an incredible opportunity to inspire and shape the hearts and minds of our talented athletes, steering them to achievements on the international stage. My love for sport drives me to ensure each athlete stretches the limits of their potential. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a prestigious organisation."
Dale will work closely with Aquatics GB Swimming Head Coach Steven Tigg on developing talent that can continue to keep British teams thriving and competing at the top-end of international medal tables year on year.
"It is great that we have been able to appoint Euan to such a crucial position as we begin the next Olympic cycle towards LA," said Tigg.
"His depth of experience in coaching and talent identification bodes well for bringing through the British swimming stars of future Olympic, World Championship and European Championship campaigns, and his input will be valuable in helping us to continually improve as a swimming programme."
As Performance Pathway Lead - Swimming, Dale will also work in tandem with Performance Pathway Coach Nathan Hilton to provide the best platform for athlete development and progression - while Hilton will continue to lead the marathon swimming programme, on the back of a year that saw three athletes finish in the top 20 of the Men's and Women's 10km events at the Olympic Games.
