Double gold for Guy at Flanders Speedo Cup

Double World Champion James Guy took two titles on day one of the Flanders Speedo Cup in Antwerp when he followed victory in the 200m Freestyle with gold in the 400m Freestyle.

The Millfield swimmer was followed home by City of Sheffield swimmer Nick Grainger with the bronze in the 200m event while over 400m silver and bronze went to Jay Lelliott from University of Bath and Max Litchfield (City of Sheffield) respectively.

In the women’s distance Freestyle events Holly Hibbott of Stockport Metro brought home the gold in the 800m event followed by Ellie Faulkner of City of Sheffield. Aimee Willmott (London Aquatics) was also amongst the winners on day one in Antwerp when she impressed in the 400m Individual Medley. Georgia Coates of City of Leeds showing her potential with a bronze medal.

In the 200m Backstroke, Britain earned a one, two, three with Rose Rudin (Nova Centurion) leading the way from Brittany Horton (City of Birmingham) and Anna Newland (Stockport Metro). And there was a British clean sweep in the 200m Butterfly as the medals went to Amelia Clynes (City of Leeds), Hibbott and Willmott respectively.

National Centre, Bath swimmer Andrew Willis came out on top in the 200m Breaststroke and was followed by Luke Davies (City of Birmingham) with bronze. In the women’s 100m event gold went to Katie Matts (Stockport Metro) while Imogen Clarke (Derventio Excel) took bronze.

Georgia Davies (National Centre, Loughborough) took the gold in the 50m Backstroke while Lauren Quigley (Stockport Metro) collected the silver. Fran Halsall sprinted to gold in the 50m Butterly from National Centre, Loughborough team mate Rachael Kelly and then took silver in the 100m Freestyle ahead of Quigley in third.

Silver medals went to National Centre, Loughborough pair Adam Barrett in the 100m Butterfly and Liam Tancock in the 100m Backstroke.
