A 28-strong Aquatics GB team blending Olympic champion experience with future potential will head to Singapore this summer, looking to make their mark at the World Aquatics Championships.
Fresh off the back of a thrilling week's racing at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championship in London, six medallists from Paris 2024 are among a group looking to continue GB's brilliant record at World Championships over the past decade, as well as beginning the build towards the next Games in LA in 2028.
Duncan Scott, Matt Richards, James Guy and Ben Proud all claimed British titles last week and are bound for busy meets in Singapore come July, while Tom Dean and Jack McMillan - part of that history-making Olympic Men's 4x200m Freestyle Relay title defence nine months ago - are also selected.
Eight more swimmers are included after winning GB gold inside World Championship selection times, including Angharad Evans and Oliver Morgan, who broke British records in the Women's 100m Breaststroke and Men's 100m Backstroke respectively in eye-catching fashion as part of stunning Aquatics GB Swimming Championships performances. Keanna MacInnes, Freya Colbert, Eva Okaro, Max Litchfield, Katie Shanahan and Abbie Wood complete that particular group.
Angharad and Eva, meanwhile, are among a group of nine athletes set to make their senior Worlds debuts for GB, with Greg Butler, Leah Schlosshan, Ed Mildred and 17-year-old Jacob Mills also part of that cohort after strong swims contributed to various relay groups qualifying for Singapore.
Relay strength in depth will again be a key focus once the year's benchmark meet arrives, with the World Championship swimming programme running from 27th July - 3rd August - just as it was at the last major World Championships in Fukuoka two years ago, when there was a dominant Men's 4x200m Freestyle Relay victory and a bronze in the Mixed 4x100m Freestyle Relay, alongside a memorable gold-silver for Richards and Dean in the 200m Freestyle, plus a silver-bronze combo for Scott and Dean in the 200m Individual Medley.
Reflecting on the selections for the 2025 edition, Performance Director Chris Spice said: "We were treated to a week of top-quality racing at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, with so many Worlds selection times met and countless finals going down to the very last strokes. It is always a pleasure to see events being moved on as well, so a special mention to Angharad Evans and Oliver Morgan for their respective British records, which bode really well for the season ahead.
"This is an exciting team that genuinely combines world-class experience in the sport's biggest arenas with a host of up-and-coming talents who we hope can gain invaluable insight in the summer, both in terms of competition but also being around our athletes and staff in a World Championship environment. As always, the focus for everyone involved is on delivering a season's best performance in the summer, and everything we do between now and late July will be working towards that.
"Seeing how swimmers like Jacob Mills, Max Morgan and Holly McGill delivered in front of packed crowds and a TV audience at the London Aquatics Centre last week means they are already on the right track to do that. Equally, it is always promising to see the way our experienced big hitters, including Duncan Scott, Matt Richards and Abbie Wood, were able to show their class and perform strongly after some well-deserved breaks post-Paris, and that is encouraging in terms this summer, our ongoing relay prospects and the longer-term picture over the next Olympic cycle."
