Summer Championships end on a high

The final night of the British Summer Championships in Sheffield served up more action packed racing and the six days of competition were rounded off with four exhilarating relay finals.

First up was the Women’s 14/16 years 4x100m Medley relay, the team from Ellesmere College pulled away from the field took control of the race and sealed gold.  In 17+ year’s final gold went to the team of four from Stockport Metro.

Over in the Men’s relay finals, the Millfield School quartet took gold in the 14/16 years 4x100m Medley final and in the 17+ age group final the team from Plymouth Leander touched home first claimed the final medal of the championships.

Earlier in the session Bath University’s Jay Lelliot stormed to victory in the 19+ years 200m Freestyle final. He touched home ahead of Kyle Chisholm (Borough of Kirklees) in silver and Martyn Walton (University of Stirling) in bronze.

Jamie O’Connor (Thanet) was first to the touch and sealed himself the 17/18 years 200m Freestyle gold.

Hatfield swimmer Luke Turley secured another national title for himself this is time in the 16 years 200m Freestyle.

Joel Thompson (Shiverers) touched first and claimed another title in the Men’s 200m Freestyle 15 years final. Gold in the 13/14 years final of the Men’s 200m Freestyle went to City of Leicester’s William Bell.

Jocelyn Ulyett (Loughborough University) controlled the race in the centre lane of the Ponds Forge pool from start to finish and collected herself gold.

Silver went to City of Derby’s Sarah Vasey and bronze to Rachel Wilson of Derwentside.

Stockport Metro’s Katie Matts eased to another gold medal, 100m Breaststroke gold in the 17/18 years age group.

European junior medallist Layla Black (City of Leeds) delivered another strong swim in Sheffield to take the victory and national title in the Women’s 100m Breaststroke 16 years final.

Tatiana Belonogoff the swimmer from City of Guildford edged away from the field and safely secured the win in the 15 years 100m Breaststroke final.

Amelia Clynes (City of Leeds) returned to the centre of the British Summer Championship podium as she claimed gold in the Women’s 13/14 years 100m Breaststroke final.

Joseph Hulme (Bath University) was first to stop the clock in the 19+ years 200m Backstroke final and collect gold.

Hulme was accompanied on the podium by Jack Warren-Ballard (University of Stirling) and Daniel Cross (Loughborough University).

City of Sheffield’s Elliot Clogg snatched the victory at the wall in a race almost too close call, he took the national honour in the Men’s 17/18 years 200m Backstroke final.

Myles Stick (City of Leeds) held position and took the victory in the 16 years 200m Backstroke final.

In the 15 years final Nathan McCleave (Dorking) touched home first in the Men’s 15 years 200m final of the Backstroke.

Bridgend County’s Ioan Evans topped the board at the end of the 13/14 years Men’s 200m Backstroke final.

Harriet Jones (City of Cardiff) and Charlotte Atkinson (Loughborough University) are tied for first in the 19+ years final of the Women’s 100m Butterfly, as both collected gold in Sheffield.

European junior Champion Laura Stephens (Plymouth Leander) delivers a personal best swim and sealed the win in the 17/18 years final of the 100m Butterfly.

Tazmin Pugh picked up another podium topping medal for Ellesmere College Titans after she won the 100m Butterfly final of the 16 years age group.

Newcastle Swim Teams Emily Large ranked top after two laps of the pool in Sheffield to take the title in the 15 years final of the 100m Butterfly.

Pia Murray (Ellesmere College Titans) is the victor of the Women’s 13/14 years as she touched first for gold over 100m Butterfly.

Adam Taylor (City of Sunderland) cruised to victory in the 19+ years Men’s 50m Butterfly. He finished ahead of Sean Campsie of Stirling Swimming and Henry Bland of Newcastle.

Plymouth’s Kregor Zirk touched home first in 50m Butterfly final for the 17/18 years age group.

Jacob Peters (poole Swimming Club) saw of the competition in his final of the Men’s 50m Butterfly 16 years final.

The 15 years gold for the Men’s 50m Butterfly final went to Sam Dailey of Plymouth Leander and in the 13/14 years age group Toby Ryland (City of Liverpool) collected the gold medal!

The British Summer Championships 2016 Top Club award was awarded to Preston Swimming Club.

Preston was represented by Kathyrn Greenslade, Kyo Tanner, Emily Lawrence, Will Ritchie, Billy Dewhurst, James Parker, Jack Hardman, Kenan Yeung and George Robinson.
