Sixteen young British swimmers will represent Team GB at this summer's European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Maribor, Slovenia.
A total of 39 athletes across four sports have been selected to compete for Team GB at what is a valuable multi-sport arena experience for all aspiring Olympians, with the competition running from 23rd-29th July.
Among the up-and-coming British competitors set to take to the Pristan Swimming Centre pool is City of Sheffield's Phoebe Cooper, who won a medal of each colour - including Women's 200m Individual Medley gold - at last year's EYOF in Slovakia, while City of Salford swimmer Amelie Blocksidge is part of the team after she won a sensational senior British title in the Women's 1500m Freestyle at April's British Swimming Championships. Evan Davidson (Perth City Swim Club) and Mabli Collyer (City of Swansea), meanwhile, are gearing up for their second successive European Youth Olympic Festival appearance.
Speaking ahead of another EYOF experience, Phoebe said: "It's great to be part of the EYOF team again - last year was an amazing competition. We really bonded as a team and this made you feel that Team GB was behind you. I'm really looking forward to this year's event, as I can build on my previous experience. I hope the whole team can thrive at the competition."
Team GB EYOF alumni from the pool include Duncan Scott, Britain's most-decorated Olympic athlete ever at a single Games, who won the Men's 200m Individual Medley at Utrecht 2013. At that same event, Tokyo 2020 Olympians Abbie Wood and Laura Stephens also took to the podium on multiple occasions.
