Two of Britain’s most promising Para-Swimming talents have been selected to represent Great Britain in Brazil next week.
Ellie Robinson (Northampton Swimming Club) and Lewis White (City of Derby) will be among eight athletes and swimmers competing in the 2015 Brazil Paralympic School Games in Natal.
Robinson only started para-swimming in 2012 and will compete in the 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 100m butterfly.
Speaking about her selection, Robinson said: “Swimming plays a really important part of life and I love racing.
“I’m really looking forward to getting to Brazil and starting the competition. It’s a small team but I know that we will put in some good performances.
“I think that being part of a multi-sport event will give me good experience for the future and I think we will pick up lots of tips and things that will help us improve.”
White, who actually competed in in Sao Paulo last year but missed his first race due to illness, will compete in the 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 200 individual medley and 100m freestyle.
Speaking about his selection, Lewis said: “I am really excited to be given the chance to go back to Brazil as I have some unfinished business over there.
“Last year I got sick the day before I raced and couldn’t compete on the first day of competition. However, I did compete on day two and managed to get a silver medal.
“This time I want to compete fully fit and for my racing to be a true reflection of what I can achieve. It feels good to represent GB and hopefully I will be able to bring some medals back.”
