Paralympic bronze medallist James Clegg has announced his retirement from competitive swimming.
Clegg burst on to the world scene at in 2012, breaking Ian Sharpe's 12-year old British S12 record in 100m Butterfly at the British Swimming Championships in London, which earned him selection to the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
On his Team GB debut in London 2012, Clegg became the first British S12 swimmer to go under a minute for the 100m Butterfly as he won his heat then landed bronze in the final. He also reached the final of the S12 100m Freestyle in London, securing eighth place.
After winning MC 100m Butterfly gold at the 2013 British International Disability Championships, Clegg went on to represent Great Britain at the IPC World Swimming Championships in Montreal, winning another international medal with bronze in the S12 400m Freestyle.
Speak about Clegg’s retirement, Paul Wilson, Disability Performance Development Manager of Scottish Swimming said:
