Hamer delivers stand out heats performance

Tom Hamer broke the S14 British record in the 200m Freestyle in the final heat of the event with a swim that saw him out on his own on the penultimate day of action at the British Para-Swimming International Meet.

The National Performance Centre swimmer was swimming against the clock and he stopped it at 1:57.27 and will lead the way into finals with a score of 975.

Paralympic Champion Ellie Simmonds will lead the 400m Freestyle final after clocking 5:31.19 with a total of 895 points.

Fellow National Performance Centre swimmer Rosie Bancroft takes second place with a time of 4:49.60 and a total of 836.

Bethany Firth (Ards) swam close to her S14 world record in the heats of the 200m Freestyle and secured 995 points with a time of 2:04.65.

Jessica-Jane Applegate (UEA Norwich) follows Firth into the final with a score of 946 after touching in 2:06.76.

World record holder Ollie Hynd secured top spot in the 400m Freestyle overall after swimming to a time of 4:31.08 which gave him a time of 927.

Hynd is joined by Michael Jones (S7, NPC/Mt Kelly) who finished in 4:52.41 with a score of 870.
