The Para Swimming World Series awards every year the best Overall Female and Male Athletes, the best High-Support Needs (classes S/SB 1-3) Female and Male Athletes, the best Female and Male Junior Athletes and the best National Paralympic Committee (NPC).
British athletes performed strongly in the 2024 Citi Para Swimming World Series awards, with Alice Tai claiming her second Overall Women’s Champion title as she returned to the top of the points rankings for the first time since 2019.
Accumulating 4184 points across the Berlin and Lignano Sabbiadoro events was enough to see Tai edge her compatriot, Poppy Maskill (4017 points), to the World Series crown - with the pair enjoying a special year in the pool that also see's them both recognised for their achievements in the New Year's Honours List for 2025.
William Ellard placed second in the Overall Men's rankings, but was triumphant in defending his World Series title in the Junior Men’s category as the BBC Young SPOTY nominee finished the campaign on 4027 points, with Rhys Darbey following closely on 3824 points.
The Junior Women's category was topped by Olivia Newman-Baronius on 3948 points, with the S14 athlete enjoying a breakout year as strong results on the World Series built her international experience ahead of the Paris 2024 Games - where she claimed Paralympic gold alongside Maskill, Ellard and Darbey in the Mixed S14 4x100m Freestyle relay.
There was a second place too for Ellie Challis (3690 points) in the High Support Needs Women’s category, while Great Britain were awarded silver in the race for the Best National Paralympic Committee prize.
