Fifteen youngsters have been selected to represent Great Britain at the Women’s European Junior Water Polo Championships in September.
Representatives from Rotherham Metro, Otter, Liverpool, Bristol, Mid Sussex Marlins, Hucknall, Coventry, Tyldesley and City of Sheffield are among those who will travel to the Greek city of Volos for the tournament, which runs from 1-8 September.
Britain will take on the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Germany in Group C, with world junior champions Russia in Group D.
The team will open their campaign against Germany on 1 September, before taking on the Dutch a day later and Bulgaria on 3 September.
Great Britain finished sixth at the 2017 tournament after firstly losing their quarter-final match against the eventual bronze medallists Hungary, which set up a 5-8 ranking match.
The Brits were triumphant in that match against Serbia, winning in a dramatic penalty shoot-out to secure a top six finish, but were then beaten by Italy.
“We wish this talented young group the best of luck in Volos, as they take on some of the world’s best junior teams.
“This will be a great opportunity for these players to gain valuable international experience.”
